A Chinese visa is a stamp or endorsement placed by officials of China on a passport that allows the bearer to visit China. “Visit” is further defined as the reason for entry, usually business, tourist or transitory. Do Indians Need A Visa For China?

Yes, Indian citizens need a visa to visit China. This visa allows them to engage in tourism-related activities like sightseeing, visiting friends and family, or participating in cultural exchanges. This is indeed good news for Indian citizens.

You need to apply for a China tourist visa for Indians, also known as L-Visa, which allows independent tourists and travellers in groups to enter the country. There is no facility to apply for a China visa online except Atlys. Currently, you can apply for a Chinese visa for Indians through the visa application centre.

Remember, China has very strict visa requirements, and you must have the required documents to get your visa approved.

Required Documents for China Tourist Visa Application

 

Here are the essential documents required for a China tourist visa application for Indian citizens:

  1. Valid passport: Ensure that your passport has at least six months of remaining validity.

  2. Recent passport-sized photograph: Provide a recent color photograph that meets the specific requirements set by the Chinese embassy or consulate.

  3. Proof of travel arrangements: Submit supporting documents such as flight tickets and hotel reservations to demonstrate your travel plans in China.

  4. Proof of financial means: Present evidence, such as bank statements or a letter of invitation from a sponsor in China, to showcase your ability to financially support your stay in the country.

In addition to the above, you may be required to submit additional supporting documents based on the purpose of your visit and the specific requirements of the Chinese embassy or consulate where you are applying. These may include:

  1. Travel itinerary: Provide a detailed plan outlining the places you intend to visit and activities you plan to engage in during your stay in China.

  2. Letter of employment: If applicable, include a letter from your employer stating your position, duration of employment, and permission for your travel.

  3. Proof of previous travel history: Submit documents demonstrating your previous international travel, such as previous visas or entry/exit stamps from your passport.

  4. Marriage certificate: If you are traveling with a spouse, provide a marriage certificate as proof of relationship.

  5. Valid residence permit: If you are residing in a country other than India, include a valid residence permit from that country.

  6. Original invitation letter : If you have received an invitation from an individual or organization in China, include the invitation letter along with their contact details.

If you have obtained foreign citizenship, it is advisable to apply for the China tourist visa using your renewed passport rather than your old Indian passport. Please note that using a different passport than the one used for visa application may result in entry denial to China.

Required Documents for China Business Visa Application

  • Passport: Original Passport with the validity of six months from intended date of return and minimum two blank pages for visa stamping. Attach all your old passports (if any).

  • China Visa Application Form:One visa application form to be duly filled and signed by the applicant.
    Please Note: The application form can be typed or filled manually by the applicants.
  • Photo Specification: : One recent passport size colored photographs with glossy finish, full face coverage, white background and without border (Size: 48mm x 33mm).
  • Covering Letter : Covering-Letter from applicant mentioning his name, designation, passport number, purpose and duration of visit in brief. The letter should be duly signed by the applicant and should be addressed to – The Visa Officer, Embassy of China, New Delhi.
    Please Note:Covering-Letter on Letterhead if applicant is Self Employed or on plain paper if Employed
  • Invitation / Notification Letter: Invitation/Notification Letter from Chinese host / inviting Company on its letter head with complete address & contact number, duly signed manually with round seal (on a blank space and not over any name/signatures) by the authorized signatory along with his name and designation. The letter should be addressed to “The Visa Officer, Embassy of China, New Delhi”.
